Volunteer opportunities in Central Oregon
Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council
also known as COIC; Cascades East Transit (CET)
About Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council
A regional council of governments formed in 1972 by Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties, eight cities, and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. It provides shared regional services including employment and training, alternative high school education and youth work programs, business loans, transportation, and community and economic development. COIC operates Cascades East Transit (CET), the region's public transit system, with local routes, community connectors between towns, recreation shuttles, and Dial-a-Ride service.
Volunteering looks like
Civic service rather than hands-on volunteering: community seats on the COIC Board representing business and agriculture, business and industry, timber and wood products, tourism and recreation, and under- and unemployed residents, appointed by member counties, plus the Regional Public Transportation Advisory Committee that advises Cascades East Transit.
