Volunteer opportunities in Bend, Oregon
Worthy Garden Club
About Worthy Garden Club
A Bend nonprofit cultivating a community of environmental stewards working together to build a greener, healthier planet through advocacy, action and education. Based on the Worthy campus on Bend's east side, the club runs a small regenerative farm, native plant and pollinator demonstration gardens that double as outdoor science classrooms, and the Hopservatory, the only professional observatory within Bend's city limits, with regular public viewing nights. Its work centers on soil health, native pollinators, dark skies and community, with free and low-cost garden classes, plant sales, pollinator walks, pub talks, school field trips, summer camps and tours. The club also manages the City of Bend's ADA-friendly Franklin's Corner Community Garden and partners with mission-aligned organizations across Central Oregon. Membership is free.
Volunteering looks like
Hands-on garden and land stewardship from May through September, with monthly volunteer events during the season and training and tools provided. Volunteers work on the Worthy farm and landscape and at Franklin's Corner Community Garden: seeding, thinning and harvesting crops, pruning, weeding, watering, and learning plant, pollinator and pest ID. Volunteers also help with invasive weed removal, pollinator gardens at local schools, and native plant salvages.
