About Sisters Trails Alliance

Sisters Trails Alliance connects people and communities to each other and their natural surroundings through stewardship of multi-use, non-motorized trails and adjacent wild spaces in Sisters Country. Under a volunteer service agreement with the Sisters Ranger District, it manages and maintains some 200 miles of trails for hikers, bikers, runners, and equestrians, almost all on the Deschutes National Forest, and is working with the Forest Service, COTA, and others on the STAR project to add new trails around Sisters.

Volunteering looks like

More than 350 volunteers a year give 3,200+ hours: trail work parties that brush trails, log out fallen trees, and restore eroded areas; Adopt-a-Trail stewards who inspect and maintain an assigned section; winter crews who ready Nordic and snowshoe trails and stock the Jefferson shelter with firewood; plus race aid stations and distributing the Sisters trail map. No membership or experience needed; tools and training provided. Volunteers with 16+ hours earn a Northwest Forest Pass.
