Deschutes County Law Library

About Deschutes County Law Library

A free public legal research library run by Deschutes Public Library in partnership with Deschutes County. It offers Oregon and federal statutes, rules, and cases in print and online, legal databases, help finding materials, and pointers to self-help resources for people representing themselves. Staff are not attorneys and can't give legal advice, but the library hosts Lawyer in the Library, free short online consultations with volunteer attorneys. It also offers meeting rooms and Zoom tablets for court hearings, free community legal presentations, and limited notary services.

Volunteering looks like

Volunteer attorneys give free short online consultations to self-represented people through Lawyer in the Library, run with the Deschutes County Access to Justice Committee. General library volunteering, such as shelf support and MakerSpace support, runs through Deschutes Public Library's volunteer program, which screens every volunteer.
