Volunteer opportunities in Central Oregon

Central Oregon Project Healing Waters

also known as PHW Central Oregon, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Bend

About Central Oregon Project Healing Waters

The Bend program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a national nonprofit that helps disabled active military and veterans heal through the therapeutic art of fly fishing. Participants learn fly tying, casting, and rod building in free, ongoing classes, then put their skills to work on trips to waters like the Fall River, Crooked River, and East Lake, building camaraderie and connection along the way. All gear and trips are free.

Volunteering looks like

Volunteers teach fly tying, fly casting, and rod building at regular program nights, help veterans on the water during fishing outings on Central Oregon rivers and lakes, and support trip logistics and meals. Many volunteers are veterans themselves, but you don't need to be one, and experienced anglers and fly tiers are especially valuable.
