Volunteer opportunities in Central Oregon
Vamonos Outside
About Vamonos Outside
Vámonos Outside ("Let's Go Outside") connects, engages, and inspires Latinx families and community members across Central Oregon to explore the outdoors, removing cultural and cost barriers with bilingual programs. A program of the Children's Forest of Central Oregon, it offers everything from park days, canoeing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting to rock climbing, camping, and ski and snowboard days at Mt. Bachelor, plus the Spring Into Nature Festival in Madras and a Latinx outdoor film festival, working with partners like Bend Park & Recreation, the Deschutes Land Trust, and the migrant education program.
Volunteering looks like
Volunteers help lead and support outdoor outings for Latinx youth and families, such as hikes, snow days, climbing nights, and nature festivals: assisting trip leaders, helping with gear and logistics, driving support, and welcoming participants. Bilingual Spanish-English volunteers and people with outdoor skills are especially valuable.
