Volunteer opportunities in Central Oregon

School of Ranch

About School of Ranch

School of Ranch is a Terrebonne-based nonprofit that teaches practical rural living and heritage skills, from welding, irrigation, and tractor driving to livestock care, gardening, and soap making, through hands-on workshops led by skilled locals. It connects newcomers and longtime residents, and runs a paid internship where high school students manage marketing, publishing, and registration while earning school credit. In 2024 its workshops drew nearly 1,800 participants.

Volunteering looks like

School of Ranch runs on skilled local instructors and paid high school interns. Community members get involved by helping at workshops, community potlucks, and events like its Repair Café partnership, and people with homestead, trade, or ranch skills can apply to teach a workshop.
