About Oregon Rocketry
An Oregon nonprofit club dedicated to the promotion of model, sport and amateur rocketry, formed in 2002 from members of Tripoli Portland and the OREO section of the National Association of Rocketry. Its high desert launch site a few miles from Brothers, about 40 miles east of Bend, is Oregon's premier venue for large, complex and high-altitude projects, with a standing FAA waiver above 20,000 feet. Brothers hosts several high-power launch weekends a year, including Rocketober each October and Turkey Loft in November, drawing many Central Oregon fliers alongside rocketeers from across the Northwest. The club also runs monthly low-power family launches at Garden Home Park in Portland and a high-power launch near Sheridan, and hosts group launches for scout troops and school teams. Launches run under Tripoli and NAR safety rules; individual and family memberships are available.
Volunteering looks like
Launches are run entirely by volunteer members. Volunteering looks like range duty during launch weekends, helping with rocket recovery, launch site setup and teardown, and supporting group launches for scouts and school teams. Members and families who come out to fly are expected to pitch in. Membership and launch details are on the club's website.
