About Mustangs to the Rescue
Mustangs To The Rescue is an all-breed, all-volunteer horse rescue founded in 2012 by Kate Beardsley at Western Sky Ranch in southeast Bend. It rescues, rehabilitates, trains, and rehomes horses in need, often placing them in service roles like search and rescue, pack strings, and patrol, and serves as a community resource: helping owners who have fallen on hard times, assisting law enforcement and first responders with large-animal emergencies, and offering technical large animal rescue training, horsemanship clinics, and barn safety classes.
Volunteering looks like
MTTR is all-volunteer. Crew members help with daily horse care (feeding, cleaning, grooming, and handling), training and rehabilitation projects, ranch upkeep, adoptions and open houses, and fundraising events. Experienced horse people can help with training, and the organization also trains community members in technical large animal emergency rescue.
