Mid Oregon Credit Union: Bite of Reality Financial Literacy

About Mid Oregon Credit Union: Bite of Reality Financial Literacy

Bite of Reality is a hands-on financial literacy simulation offered by Mid Oregon Credit Union, in which high school students are given a career, salary, and family situation and then visit stations to budget for housing, transportation, food, and more, learning real-world money skills.

Volunteering looks like

Volunteers staff the stations at Bite of Reality events in local high schools (housing, transportation, groceries, childcare, and more), playing merchants and helping students make budget decisions for their simulated adult lives. Events run a few hours and training is provided on site.
