Volunteer opportunities in Bend, Oregon
Hopservatory
also known as Worthy Hopservatory
About Hopservatory
A public night sky observatory run by Worthy Garden Club in the third-floor dome at Worthy Brewing on Bend's east side, and the only professional observatory within Bend's city limits. Its 16-inch research-grade telescope is open for public viewing nights several evenings a week, first come, first served, with no registration and a small suggested donation; on cloudy nights staff show slideshows and live feeds from other observatories. A hydrogen-alpha telescope comes out for solar viewing at summer events. The Hopservatory also hosts school field trips and summer camps, often paired with a garden activity, and private tours outside public hours. It is part of Worthy Garden Club's dark skies work.
