Volunteer opportunities in Bend, Oregon

High Desert Horticultural Center

also known as HDHC; WinterCreek Nursery

About High Desert Horticultural Center

The High Desert Horticultural Center (HDHC) helps Central Oregon communities create beautiful, sustainable landscapes with plants native to the east Cascades and sagebrush steppe. Through classes, demonstration gardens, and native plant production at its WinterCreek Nursery in northeast Bend, HDHC promotes water-wise, wildlife-friendly landscapes and trains a knowledgeable local workforce.

Volunteering looks like

From March through September, nursery volunteers help the WinterCreek crew with weeding, repotting, watering, and more, committing 1–3 hours one day a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Volunteers also help staff HDHC's booths and activities at community events and native plant outreach throughout the year.
