Volunteer opportunities in Central Oregon

Friends of the Children-Central Oregon

About Friends of the Children-Central Oregon

Friends of the Children-Central Oregon pairs children facing the greatest barriers with a salaried, professional mentor, called a Friend, from kindergarten through high school graduation, 12 and a half years, no matter what. Friends spend several hours each week with each child, helping set and reach goals and simply being a consistent, caring adult. Founded nationally in Portland in 1993, the Central Oregon chapter opened in 2017 and works with Bend and Redmond schools to identify kids in kindergarten who need that support.

Volunteering looks like

Mentors at Friends of the Children are paid professionals, so volunteers support the program around them: helping with events and youth activities, office and clubhouse support, sharing career skills, and workplace team projects.
