About Equine Outreach, Inc.

Equine Outreach, founded in 2002, rescues horses in Oregon with uncertain futures, especially older, abused, neglected, and medically compromised horses, restores their trust in people, rebuilds their health, and rehomes them to loving families; many seniors stay on as sanctuary or hospice horses. Horses often come through owner surrenders and the sheriff's offices after neglect cases. It also brings the healing power of horses to memory care residents and to at-risk youth through the Oregon Youth Challenge program.

Volunteering looks like

Volunteers are the backbone of the rescue: daily feeding and barn chores, grooming and gentle handling of senior and recovering horses, helping with medical care routines and rehabilitation, property upkeep, and supporting fundraising events and outreach. Volunteers also help with programs that bring memory care residents and at-risk youth together with the horses.
