Volunteer opportunities in Sisters, Oregon
Circle of Friends
About Circle of Friends
Circle of Friends offers every Sisters child or youth in need a trained volunteer mentor who provides a consistent, long-term, caring relationship. Founded in 2011 by Duncan and Cindy Campbell, and modeled on Friends of the Children, which Duncan founded in Portland, it serves around 60 kids a year from pre-K through high school, referred through the Sisters School District, with academic support, activities, and trips at its clubhouse in downtown Sisters and with more than 90 community partners.
Volunteering looks like
Volunteer mentors are matched one-on-one with a Sisters child or teen and spend 2 to 4 hours a week together, helping with homework, sharing activities, and simply being a steady friend. Mentors commit a year at a time, and the matching process (about three months) includes a background check, training, and ongoing support; community partners offer mentors discounts. Not ready to mentor? Share a hobby or skill in an activity at the clubhouse, or help with events, crafts, and grant writing.
