Volunteer opportunities in Sisters, Oregon
Camp Tamarack
About Camp Tamarack
Camp Tamarack is a nonprofit outdoor camp in the Deschutes National Forest near Sisters, operating under a Forest Service special use permit. It hosts Outdoor School for Central Oregon fifth graders, with hands-on science and nature learning, and runs summer camp programs where kids swim, hike, and build community in the Cascades.
Volunteering looks like
High school students volunteer as counselors for a week of Outdoor School, supervising a cabin of fifth graders, helping lead science and community-building activities, and working alongside other teen volunteers under the mentorship of camp staff. Counselors can earn up to 144 volunteer hours plus high school and college credit, and the experience can lead to a paid summer camp job.
