About Alliance for a Safe Oregon
Alliance for a Safe Oregon works statewide to prevent gun-related tragedies, bringing together gun violence survivors, gun owners, veterans, health care workers, and first responders. Its work covers safe storage and keeping kids safe, preventing firearm suicide, Extreme Risk Protection Orders, community violence prevention, supporting veterans, and preventing school and mass shootings, including partnerships with firearm owners, doctors, and health clinics in rural Oregon. After the Silver Rail Elementary shooting it published a list of support resources for people affected.
Volunteering looks like
Advocacy through the Action Alerts team (contacting lawmakers and showing up when leaders need to hear from the community), event support, community education on safe storage and preventing firearm suicide, and member trainings, forums, and webinars. Volunteers can bring their own skills and time; sign up through the Alliance's volunteer form.
