Central Oregon Volunteer Connect
also known as COVC, Volunteer Connect, Volunteer Central Oregon
Central Oregon Volunteer Connect is a program of Connect Central Oregon representing one of their four pillars - alongside Mentoring, Innovation, and Partnership. It's a regional infrastructure, shaped and stewarded by community leaders over more than two decades connecting organizations, volunteers, emerging leaders, and community energy across Central Oregon. Along with direct partnership outreach across the region, most notably the Connect Central Oregon Volunteer & Board Fair — the in-person event connecting volunteers and organizations face to face, their Volunteer Central Oregon directory allows browsing or searching to find organizations across Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson Counties, and Warm Springs looking for volunteers, donors, and community partners.
Connect Central Oregon is always looking for leaders who want to help connect individuals, groups, and organizations to each other and strengthen our community. One of the most important roles within the entire organization, serving as a "Connector" represents the very purpose of ConnectCO and serves as the primary method of our community engagement...using very literally every resource ConnectCO and its leadership team have to offer.
Around the Bend Farms is a Central Oregon nonprofit farm working to increase access to fresh, locally grown, nutrient-dense food. From its Braided Roots farm in Deschutes River Woods south of Bend and its AVO farm in Madras, it runs a CSA program, builds custom gardens, and through its Grow Hope, Nourish Community effort grows food for neighbors who need it most.
Farm volunteers get their hands in the soil at the Braided Roots farm in Deschutes River Woods and the AVO farm in Madras, helping with seeding, planting, weeding, harvesting, and other seasonal work that turns seeds into food for neighbors. Individuals and groups are welcome, including workplace volunteer days. Start by completing the volunteer interest form.
Bend-La Pine Schools
also known as BLS, Bend-La Pine School District
Bend-La Pine Schools is the public school district serving Bend, La Pine, Sunriver, and surrounding communities in Deschutes County, with elementary, middle, and high schools, magnet and choice schools like Westside Village and REALMS, and programs such as the Teen Parent Program. Community volunteers help in classrooms, libraries, and at school events throughout the district.
Volunteers support students in schools across the district, helping in classrooms and libraries, chaperoning field trips, mentoring and tutoring, and helping with school events. Volunteers complete the district's volunteer application and background check before starting, then connect with a specific school. Many schools also have parent groups or foundations with their own volunteer roles.
