Lord's Acre

Lord's Acre Day returns to Powell Butte on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Powell Butte Christian Church has held the sale on the first Saturday of November since 1947, when farm families pledged the yield of one acre to help build the church. Today the day draws as many as 2,000 visitors for the famous Lord's Acre sausage, whole pies and pie by the slice, candy, a country store of handmade crafts, a quilt auction, live music, a pit barbecue lunch, and a 10K/5K run and walk.

The day is the work of volunteers all year long. Quilters gather on Monday and Tuesday mornings to hand-stitch the quilts that go to auction, and crafters make the goods sold in the country store. Proceeds pay for major church maintenance and scholarships, and a tenth has gone to mission work, local and overseas, from the start. The organizations below are taking part.

Organizations taking part

Powell Butte Christian Church is a congregation in Powell Butte, between Redmond and Prineville, with ministries for children, youth, women, and men. It is best known in the wider community for Lord's Acre Day, held the first Saturday of November since 1947, a sale of sausage, pies, crafts, and auctioned quilts with a barbecue lunch and a 10K/5K run that draws as many as 2,000 visitors.

Volunteering looks like

The church's Lord's Acre sale runs on year-round volunteer work: quilters meet weekly to hand-make quilts for the auction, crafters create goods for the country store, and the sale day itself brings together food, a barbecue lunch, music, and a community run and walk.
